The village of Appomattox Court House is located in the rolling hills of south central Virginia. The initial development of this piedmont community, originally called Clover Hill, resulted from the establishment of stage stops along the road between Richmond and Lynchburg. In this report only research on the historic roads outside the central village area and the history and development of the Mariah Wright house will be discussed.
