The primary purpose of the proposed project is to upgrade the capacity and safety of the existing corridor to enable it to handle expected traffic volume increases that will come as a result of completion of the Interstate Highway System in this area of Florida. The population density of the area on the west side of the arterial can be classified as medium density, residential. Land on the east side of this corridor is primarily being utilized as commercial zones with accompanying buildings. The center line of the existing corridor is being maintained as much as possible to minimize the number of residences and commercial establishments that will have to be relocated as a result of implementation of the project. Present figures indicate that eight businesses and four or five residences will have to be relocated.
