Gas House Cove (East Harbor Facility), San Francisco Marina Small Craft Harbor, California
Reduction is proposed of wave surge by construction of a 117-foot long concrete sheet pile breakwater connecting two existing breakwaters. Environmental impacts: Provide 6,400 square feet of substrate for sessile organisms; eliminate 1,400 square feet of benthos and a temporary disruption of larger area of benthos, during construction; potential decrease in water quality during construction; and removal of small area of benthos.
