Tables show cross - tabulations of the indicators of housing and neighborhood quality by income, value, and gross rent. All tables present data for housing units with black and Spanish - origin householders. The 1982 AHS points to a net gain of 56,700 housing units over the 1978 AHS estimate. About 3 percent of the total housing stock in the Philadelphia metropolitan area was constructed since the 1978 survey. Most of the new construction occurred in the suburbs. The report includes maps; table - finding guides; a list of AHS reports; and appendixes presenting area classifications, definitions and explanations of subject characteristics, a sample AHS 1982 questionnaire, and a discussion of the source and reliability of the estimates.
