The papers presented in the report provide a broad view of geographic contributions to urban research in an effort to define, evaluate, and help overcome specific urban problems facing the nation. Specific areas of discussion include a geographic conceptualization of urban issues; spatial analysis; land use policies; utilization of natural environment in design and planning; interurban and integrated regional planning; settlement polarization, metropolitan concentration, and rural decline; and emerging forms of urbanization.
