Liquefaction of Cargoes - A Literature Review
The current state-of-the-art in cargo liquefaction studies is reviewed. Cargo liquefaction involves unsaturated particulate materials, and the behavior of unsaturated materials is therefore considered in some detail. Few liquefaction studies have considered unsaturated materials, and the evidence available is contradictory. It is considered here that liquefaction in these materials is likely, provided that the air voids in the mass are discontinuous.
