National Dam Inspection Program. Green Valley Farms Dam (NDI Number PA-01101, DER Number 15-307). Delaware River Basin, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Phase I Inspection Report
Based on the visual inspection, past performance and the available engineering data, the dam and its appurtenant structures appear to be in fair condition. The following recommendations are presented for immediate action by the owner: (1) That provisions be made to provide an adequate spillway capacity; (2) That the 12-inch CMP be cleared of obstructions on a regular basis; (3) That the upstream slope be protected from wave action erosion, and that brush and weed growth on the slope be controlled on a regular basis; (4) That the 4-inch drawdown valve be maintained and operated on a regular basis; (5) That provisions be made for upstream closure of the drawdown pipe in case of an emergency; (6) That the fence across the spillway discharge channel be relocated to preclude obstruction of the flow; (7) That a formal surveillance and downstream warning system be developed for use during periods of high or prolonged rainfall; and (8) That an operation and maintenance manual be prepared for guidance in the operation of the dam during normal and emergency conditions, and that a schedule be developed for the annual inspection of the dam and its appurtenant structures.
