Retrofitting TxDOT Drainage Structures to Improve Stormwater Quality (on CD-ROM)

This Project will identify best management practices (BMP) suitable for retrofitting stormwater conveyance structures on highway rights-of-way. The information will be used to prepare two guidance documents. The first guidance document will assist in selecting appropriate retrofit BMPs for a wide range of locations and regional circumstances and provide detailed information about design, installation and maintenance. The second guidance document will provide a process for prioritizing the installation of stormwater quality BMPs as required in the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Phase II rules. The TxDOT Stormwater Outfall Retrofit Prioritization Spreadsheet assigns a priority score to stormwater retrofit projects based on key environmental and economic considerations and other collected data. When used as designed, this prioritization scoring system guides and assists the decision making process as related to allocating limited resources for stormwater retrofits. Use of the Stormwater Outfall Retrofit Prioritization Spreadsheet will aid TxDOT districts and regulators with establishing and balancing retrofit priorities given available resources, as well as other project considerations.
