The Petro Processors of Louisiana Inc. (PPI) Superfund Site is located in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, about six miles north of the City of Baton Rouge. From 2009-2011, groundwater samples were collected from the PPI Brooklawn and Scenic operating units (OUs) as part of monitored natural and enhanced attenuation processes at the PPI site. The PPI site, is currently undergoing enhanced attenuation at the Scenic OU, with regular groundwater monitoring at both OUs. In cooperation with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals/Office of Public Health/Section of Environmental Epidemiology and Toxicology (LDHH/OPH/SEET) evaluated the most recent groundwater data available for the PPI site to determine whether contaminants in groundwater pose a potential public health hazard.
