Adjustment Plan and Strategy for Redevelopment of the Central Business District City of Fort Valley, Georgia
The city of Fort Valley, Georgia was awarded an Economic Development Assistance grant under Title IX of the Public Works and Economic Development Act, the funds to be used to combat the problems of economic dislocation caused by a disastrous tornado in February 1975. Damage and destruction to businesses caused a pronounced increase in unemployment and an overall downturn in the county's economy. The grant proposal was to develop a comprehensive redevelopment program for the Central Business District of Fort Valley and to provide technical assistance services to insure implementation of the redevelopment plans. The scope of this project was to develop a framework for redevelopment activities which would provide short-term needs and the long-range goals of the community.
