The standards on capillary water absorption of building materials, on water vapor permeability as well as the determination of vapor sorption all contain certain rules for the treatment of the building materials during the measuring process. With the guideline investigation carried out experience about the influences of different boundary conditions on the measurement results of natural stones should be gained. A particular aim was to find out the effects of anisotropy which occurs in case of sedimentary rocks on the moisture behavior.
