This report presents a two-dimensional (or schematized three-dimensional) numerical model of beach change due to breaking of short-period waves. The model development aimed at reproducing changes in macro-scale features of the profile, such as bars and berms, especially in the vicinity of coastal structures. As a first step towards a general numerical model for describing the influence of structures on beaches, the evolution of a beach around an impermeable groin or jetty was simulated. The full model 3DBEACH consists of five modules: a. Wave propagation and decay; b. Longshore current distribution; c. Longshore transport; d. Cross-shore transport; e. Bottom contour orientation; f. Bottom topography change. Keywords: Computer programs; Water waves; Ocean waves; Coastal engineering. Sweden. (EDC)
