The Ultimate Strength of Curved I-Girder Bridges. The Design of Curved Viaducts
A series of design charts and equations have been presented, which will permit a plastic or load factor design of curved girders. The design techniques are applicable to single and multi-span girders. The design technique is based on the relative behavior of curved to straight girders. Therefore, by applying appropriate factors, the plastic analysis of straight girders can be readily applied. This affords a simplified approach toward the plastic designing of curved girders. The plastic design of curved girders, as recognized in straight girders gives an uniformity in the girder strength and a saving in material. Therefore, the design data presented in this report should be most advantageous in developing current design specifications. (Author)
