The Beaver Dam Lake, formerly known as Salisbury Mills Dam, consists of left and right non-overflow sections with an included spillway. The dam is about 335 feet long with a maximum height of about 35 feet. The width of the wall at its top, which is also the crest of dam, varies from 3.5 feet to 3.75 feet. The principal spillway is an ungated masonry and concrete gravity structure which is divided into two sections by an 8-foot wide stepped brick pier. The left and right spillway sections are about 30 feet and 35 feet long, respectively. Examination of available documents and a visual inspection of the dam and the appurtenant structures did not reveal conditions which constitute an immediate hazard to human life or property. However, the dam has some deficiencies which require further investigation and remedial action. Using Corps of Engineers screening criteria, it has been determined that the dam would be overtopped for all storms exceeding approximately 37 percent of Probable Maximum Flood (PMF).
