Performance of Elastomeric Bearings
The work reported here represents the second phase of an ongoing study elastomeric bearings. Phase I consisted of a state of the art review and the development of a first level design specification. In Phase II, tests and analysis were conducted on elastomeric bearings, and the results were then used to develop design provisions suitable for inclusion in the AASHTO Specifications. The study consisted of tests and correlations with theory for monotonic compression, rotation, shear and buckling, and for fatigue in shear and compression. It also included a theoretical analysis of a bearing in a bridge subjected to low temperature.
