Concreted-Rock Slope Protection Along Santiago Canyon Road, Route 1279, Between 2.3 Miles West of Silverado Canyon Road and 2.2 Miles North of Live Oak Canyon Road, Orange County, California
The proposed project is located in unincorporated territory of Orange County. Construction is proposed at five separate sites along Santiago Canyon Road between 2.3 miles west of Silverado Canyon Road and 2.2 miles north of Live Oak Canyon Road. The project proposes construction of concreted-rock slope protection along the roadway embankments at four locations. In addition, a concreted-rock lined channel and apron, and some minor filling will be performed at a fifth location. The top elevations of the proposed rock slope protection will be approximately one to two feet above floodwater elevations. The proposed project will not affect the existing highway in any way, beyond affording the highway more adequate protection from floodwaters. Right of way and slope easement requirements for the proposed project have been acquired. Existing alignments and ultimate rights of way have been extablished by prior planning. No displacement of inhabitants or encroachment on existing land uses is anticipated as a result of this project. This project will significantly reduce flood storm damage within its drainage area, and will be beneficial to human inhabitants.
