The report contains invited papers from a multidisciplinary conference held in Gaevle, Sweden. The general objectives of the conference were to increase understanding with respect to a wide variety of environment-people research approaches, promote communication between designers, scientists, and decision-makers, and stimulate research that is high in quality or scientifically sound, yet relevant to practical problems. The papers are structured around four themes: methods and approaches in environment-people research; reconciling research quality with practical relevance; evaluating research quality; and research needs and future directions.
