Cracking of Concrete Resulting from Expansive Chemical Reactions
Concrete that has cracked as a result of alkali-aggregate reaction and that damaged by sulphate attack are similar in appearance. Methods for recognizing the two mechanisms and distinguishing between them, are described. Remedial measures are proposed and guidelines given for preventing the reactions.
