Racking Strengths and Stiffnesses of Exterior and Interior Frame Wall Constructions. Volume 2
One objective of the investigation was to determine the racking performances of several commonly used exterior wall constructions that are permitted in the Minimum Property Standards of the FHA and that utilize a let-in brace. Included in this program were racking performance tests of several common exterior wood-frame wall constructions that are not permitted by the MPS and many codes without the addition of a let-in brace. In addition, the results of previous racking performance tests of several commonly used interior wall constructions were included and evaluated in the report.
