Inelastic Buckling of Steel Beams with Central Torsional Restraints
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the stiffness and strength requirements of central torsional restraints which are intended to brace beams so as to increase their lateral buckling resistance to those of rigidly braced beams. For this purpose, a finite element model is developed for the nonlinear inelastic flexural-torsional analysis of elastically restrained steel I-beams with initial crookedness and twist and residual stresses.
