Several Papers on Civil Engineering Applications of Fuzzy Sets
It is noted that both objective and subjective information are required to complete a civil engineering assessment. Two approaches to the merging of objective information, in the form of entroy or probability distributions, and subjective information, in the form of fuzzy sets, are illustrated. Potential applications of fuzzy sets to problems in geotechnical, structural and transportation engineering are discussed. Also included is a summary of a panel discussion on the introduction of fuzzy sets to undergraduate engineering and science curricula.
