State of the Art of Rehabilitating Reflection Cracking in Cemented Pavements
Provisions for designing overlays to mitigate the effects of reflection cracking, developed abroad and locally, are given. Analytical procedures to investigate overlay strains due to primary cracks in cemented layers are outlined. Design procedures for preventing or retarding reflection cracking and examined, as well as materials such as bitumen-rubber, geofabrics, elastomer-asphalt interlayers. Standard overlays such as thick asphalt and Portland cement concrete are discussed, and literature accounts of successes and failures of these materials in mitigating reflection cracking are summarized.
