Building Details for Increased Thermal Performance Standards for Timber Frame Housing
The aims of the parent project, part of which is described in the report, were to determine appropriate standards for higher thermal performance for roofs, walls and floors of timber frame housing and to study the possible effects on specification following testing and approval. Appropriate U-values are considered to be as follows: 0.25 W/m2K for roofs; 0.3 W/m2K for walls; 0.45 W/m2K for floors. Reports on the project include a review of North American and Scandinavian details, details suitable for the UK, and describe tests on a variety of wall panels, sheathing materials and breather membranes.
