A major goal of the current project was the 'translation' or conversion of nonaudible acoustic emission (AE) from soil structures to some measurable or recordable format that could be used as a nondestructive test of the safety of such containment structures. An AE spill alert device has been developed and subjected to extensive laboratory and field testing.
