The rehabilitation of rental apartment buildings has often been expensive in Finland. The aim of the research was to develop a feasibility-study method for building rehabilitation projects. The feasibility-study method was developed and tested by applying it to a real-life situation in cooperation with property-owner organizations. The research material consisted of 21 apartment-building properties. The prepared feasibility studies of the research subjects and rehabilitations realized after feasibility studies were analyzed. A few years after the execution of the rehabilitation of the research subjects, the impact of the executed rehabilitation on the subjects' viability were evaluated. The research used the Rehab-Degree Indicator to measure rehabilitation costs. Prior to its use in the field experiment, the indicator was calibrated by 34 rehab projects and tested by other 38 projects.
