The paper gives a summary of a report on economic evaluation of thermal insulation and window design in residential wooden houses for different climatic zones in Norway. Economic optimal solutions are found to be 150-200 mm mineral wool insulation in exterior walls and 300 mm in roofs. Window orientation, size and types of panes has been analyzed. The most important conclusion is that 3-glass panes with low emissivity coated inner pane are economically favorable all over the country.
