Nonlinear Seismic Analysis of a Thick-Walled Concrete Canyon Structure
Conventional linear seismic analyses of a thick-walled lightly reinforced concrete structure were found to grossly underestimate its seismic capacity. Reasonable estimates of the seismic capacity were obtained by performing approximate nonlinear spectrum analyses along with static collapse evaluations. A nonlinear time history analysis is planned as the final verification of seismic adequacy. 5 refs., 4 figs.
