National Program for Inspection of Non-Federal Dams. Tighe Carmody Reservoir (MA 00499) Connecticut River Basin, Southhampton, Massachusetts. Phase 1 Inspection Report
This dam is a 1900 foot long, 160 foot high earth embankment dam, with a 300 foot long concrete spillway. The visual inspection did not disclose any findings that indicate an immediate unsafe condition. Based on size and hazard classifications in accordance with the Corps guidelines, the test flood is the Probable maximum Flood. The spillway for this dam is capable of passing the PMF without overtopping of the dam. Although this dam appears to be in generally good condition, the downstream slope was so heavily grown over that a thorough inspection could not be made. It is recommended that the owner have the downstream face of the dam cleared of vegetation to permit proper inspection of the slope. The owner should also obtain and make available past inspection reports and instrumentation readings so that they may be reviewed.
