Settlement Characteristics of Preconsolidated Natural Sands
In the report the settlements of footings on slightly overconsolidated sands loaded beyond the preconsolidation pressure have been investigated. Settlement calculations require a knowledge of the preconsolidaton pressure, and of the modulus of deformation below and above the preconsolidation pressure. Different methods to determine in-situ these parameters have been examined. The investigation was carried out at a test site (16 x 18 m) located close to an esker about 40 km west of Stockholm.
