The research project is basically a project of the Municipality of Managua (Junta de Reconstruccion de Managua or J.R.M.) with a team from Delft University of Technology (Department of Architecture, Urban Planning and Social Housing) acting as advisors. Inhabitants of marginal areas in Managua, especially of two pilot areas, have been involved in the project through their neighborhood organizations. To prepare a pilot plan of upgrading, consultations have taken place on several occasions.
