Environmental Assessment: Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) 2005 Mission Realignments to Vandenberg AFB
The project consists of constructing a new partial single-story and partial two-story SCF at Vandenberg AFB, California. The new SCF facility would be constructed on a vacant approximately 12-acre parcel of land within the Cantonment Area of Vandenberg AFB adjacent to the existing Communications Building (12000) on Washington Avenue. Additionally, internal renovations to the 22nd SOPS building would occur at the existing Vandenberg Tracking Station (VTS) facility. This facility is located approximately 14 miles away from the new SCF location. The proposed SCF site is located within the Cantonment Area of Vandenberg AFB. The proposed SCF facility would be a 46,720-square-foot slab on grade structure with reinforced concrete foundation, walls of split-ribbed and split-faced concrete masonry units along with exterior finish and insulation system with tinted glass. The roof is to be constructed of sloped, Mission style clay tiles that meet the Vandenberg AFB architectural design standards.
