Kaunakakai Harbor is on the south-central coast of the island of Molokai, Hawaii. The Kaunakakai Harbor Maintenance Dredging work is designed to remove shoal material within the existing Federal project limits. Approximately 48,000 cubic yards of material will be dredged and deposited at the nearby Molokai Ranch land or spoiled at sea in depths of about 100 fathoms, if acceptable to the Environmental Protection Agency. Fish can be expected to move away from the project area due to the temporary increase in water turbidity during dredging. If disposal of dredged material is at sea, settlement to the ocean bottom and dispersion of the material would cause a temporary turbid condition in and around the immediate disposal area.
