The report presents the results of studies of short-period seismic noise, signal levels, and signal-to-noise ratios. Section 2 describes the wave types present in the noise between periods of 1.0 and 6.0 sec. Section 3 describes the results of an experiment in optimum filtering. Appendices 1 and 2 are studies on the effect of seismometer burial and of topography on wind-induced noise. Appendix 3 describes an orientation course for foreign personnel conducted at The Geotechnical Corporation. (Author)
