Constructing Highway Bridge and Roadway Approaches Between State Road 5 (U.S. 1) and State Road A1A Over Indian River at Vero Beach in Indian River County, Florida
The project proposes construction of a four-lane high level bridge and approaches located in Vero Beach, Indian River County, on the east coast of central Florida. The 2 mile project, of which approximately 1 mile is bridge, begins at State Road 5 (U.S. Highway 1) on the mainland, spans 'Indian River' (along which the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway is routed) and connects to State Road A1A, a scenic coastline highway near the shore of the Atlantic Ocean. The project also includes a short (approximately 0.6 mile) Downtown Connector Road along reserved right-of-way between the west end of the bridge and the central business section. Environmental impacts are discussed.
