The successful development of performance-based specifications requires the validation of those properties identified as important determinants of pavement performance. SHRP views validation as a three-stage process: the first two stages will be completed during the life of SHRP; the final stage will be completed subsequent to March 1993 as part of the ongoing Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) Program. The report describes these validation activities.
