Engineering Characterization of Ground Motion. Task 2: Soil Structure Interaction Effects on Structural Response
A detailed parametric study of the soil-structure interaction effects on the seismic response of nuclear power plants is presented. The study includes evaluation of the effects introduced by the soil characteristics, embedment of the foundation, kinematic interaction, nonvertically incident waves, soil nonlinearity and depth to bedrock. The parametric study is based on analysis of the seismic response of a reactor building and an auxiliary building model.
