Annual Housing Survey: 1978. Housing Characteristics for Selected Metropolitan Areas: San Francisco-Oakland, Calif., Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area
Data from the U.S Annual Housing Survey for the San Francisco - Oakland Metropolitan Area for 1978 are presented in extensive tables. Statistics relate to general housing characteristics; indicators of housing and neighborhood quality by financial characteristics, with special attention to structural deficiencies and plumbing; and financial characteristics of individuals in owner and renter - occupied housing. Also covered are housing characteristics of recent movers, and the relationship of family income and property value / rent to structural deficiencies, plumbing failures, and neighborhood characteristics. Data are presented separately for all races, for families with black heads of household, and for families with heads of household of Spanish origin. Data derive from Housing Census surveys of 1970 and 1975, and 1978 / 79. Appendices present area classifications, definitions and explanations of subject characteristics, a sample of the survey instrument, a discussion of the source and reliability of estimates, and a guide to finding tables.
