The spread of fire through wall cracks was studied by experiments. The investigation was done to get basic knowledge to estimate the risk of fire spread in buildings damaged by weapon effects. The experiments were performed in two rooms (12 sq m, separated by a noncombustible wall with a variable vertical crack (d = 1 - 10 cm). In the fire room, the weight of fuel was 100 or 500 kg. The risk of fire spread was supposed to depend mainly on the temperature of the fire gases flowing into the secondary room. Criteria for ignition of kindling materials in the secondary room was assumed to be > 500 C for certain ignition and < 300 C for certain non-ignition. Certain fire spread was observed only for fire loads of 500 kg and crack widths of 10 and 5 cm.
