Proceedings of the Second U.S.-Taiwan Bridge Engineering Workshop
Transportation engineers, researchers, and high level government officials convened in San Francisco for the Second Bridge Engineering Workshop, held jointly between Taiwan and the U.S. The event, sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration and chaired by Phil Yen, included about 40 invited participants. It was organized by MCEER, University at Buffalo and the Taiwan Construction Research Institute. The workshop built on the first gathering in Taipei in 2005 which had a focus on 'Bridge Maintenance'; the theme of the 2006 workshop was 'Bridge Engineering'. Conference presentations addressed bridge operation/management, natural hazard and emergency response, corrosion and material degradation, scour problems and mitigation methods, and advanced construction techniques. The CD-ROM contains the 23 papers from the workshop, an author index and biographies, a participant list, and more.
