Uplift Resistance of Anchor Bar, Pressed Plate, and Screw Anchor Footings in Silty Sand. Field Uplift Tests on Transmission Tower Footings for the Fort Thompson-Grand Island 345-kv Transmission Line
An uplift load was applied to each footing and its vertical and horizontal movements and rotations were measured. The footing types tested were: (1) anchor bar--a concrete cap connected to 4 reinforced grout columns, (2) pressed plate--a steel plate and stem placed in compacted soil, and (3) screw anchor--a concrete cap connected to 3 or 4 steel screw anchors.
