Field Study of a Glass-Reinforced Plastic Pedestrian Bridge
This report discusses the design, fabrication and load testing of girders composed of glass-reinforced polyester resin. Test data from the experimental girder are presented and compared with results predicted from theoretical analysis of the structure. Three of the girders were assembled to form a pedestrian bridge 4.9m (16 ft.) long and 2.3m (7 ft.) wide. The pedestrian bridge will be placed in the field for additional load testing and performance observations.
