Effects of Addition Time of Sulphonated Naphthalene-Based Superplasticizer on the Properties of Concrete
In this study, the effects ofthe dosage and addition time of superplasticizer on the viscosity, mechanical properties, durability properties, and microstructure of concrete have been investigated. The results obtained indicated that the delayed addition of superplasticizer did not affect the durability of aged concrete. The rate of hydration was analysed with thermoanalytical methods and X-ray powder diffraction. The hydration of cement was retarded during the first days when delayed addition of superplasticizer was used. The rate of ettringite formation was high during the first ten minutes, practically zero between 10 minutes and 2 hours and again higher during the following days.
