Thermal Conductivity of Masonry Materials
The available data on thermal conductivities of bricks and concretes was examined during the preparation of data for the 1970 IHVE Guide and for a British Standard on thermal transmittances. This note shows that thermal conductivities can be corrected to a standard moisture content using a curve proposed by Jakob, and gives a 'best-fit' curve for assessing the thermal conductivity of material of a given density. Published data on moisture contents of masonry in heated buildings are used to obtain proposed standard moisture contents for inner and outer leaf masonry. (Author)
