Behavior of Stud Shear Connectors in Lightweight and Normal-Weight Concrete
The object of this study was to develop an expression to predict the load-slip behavior of stud shear connectors. The pushout test was used to experimentally determine the effects of the properties of the materials and of the dimensions of the studs. The report covers the fabrication and testing of nineteen pushouts with rectangular slabs and six with haunched slabs. The results from thirty-two pushouts tested as part of this study of the behavior of composite bridge stringers by other investigators are included in the analysis. The variables included were: (a) dimensions of the studs, (b) type of concrete (i.e. lightweight or normal-weight), (c) strength of concrete, and (d) geometry of the slab. (Author)
