Enclosure Fires of Polyethylene
Preliminary experiments on enclosure fires of polyethylene are described giving data which suggest that enclosure fires of plastic can be studied in a manner similar to cellulosic and combustible liquids, as there are similarities between enclosure fires of wood, ethanol, paraffin oil and polyethylene. Toxic compounds and smoke can be determined as a function of fuel loading and ventilation. Experimental data indicate the feasibility of development of a standard test method for smoke and toxic compounds generated in enclosure fires involving various materials.
