Oregon. Proposed Improvements of Wells Creek, Jack Creek Section, Umpqua Highway, FAP Project F-142
It is proposed that a 26-mile section of the highway between Wells Creek and Jack Creek of eleven passing bays be constructed. The proposal also includes work to control an existing slide area at Sawyer Rapids. The most significant impactis the general increase in traffic speed and safety due to the proposed passing facilities. There will be no substantial adverse impacts. One alternative is no construction. This would not solve the problem of inadequate passing sight distances. Another alternative is to construct a complete four-lane facility, but this is not economically feasible.
