Proposed for wilderness designation are 6925 acres in Chiricahua National Monument, Cochise County, Arizona, for inclusion in the Wilderness Preservation System. The primary effect of the proposed action will be the protection of the monument ecosystems from the disturbance of road and facility development and consumptive forms of recreation. Vehicular use will be eliminated and possible limits placed on visitation, resulting in social impact. Maintenance costs will increase and future recreational pressures may be placed on surrounding lands.
