Proceedings of the P.R.C.-U.S.A. Joint Workshop on Earthquake Disaster Mitigation through Architecture, Urban Planning and Engineering Held at Beijing, China on November 2-6, 1981
Twenty-five papers which were presented at a workshop on earthquake hazard mitigation are provided. The papers are grouped under three subtopics: (1) architectural and non-structural elements; (2) urban planning and land use; and (3) evaluation, strengthening and repairing of existing masonry structures. The relationship between building configurations and seismic performance for typical Western building types is examined and the earthquake performance of emergency service facilities is reviewed.
