Evaluation of Subgrade Moduli for Flexible Pavements in Virginia
The report summarizes studies undertaken to develop statistical relationships between the physical properties of subgrade soils as determined during a routine soil survey and the elastic moduli of those soils. While the study identified significant relationships between the elastic modulus and gradation and dry density of subgrade soils, it is clear that unidentified factors play a strong role in determining exact modulus values. For this reason, the reader is advised to use the prediction equations developed in the study with extreme caution.
