Development of SLP-II Steel Pipe Piles for Reducing Negative Skin Friction
The SLP-II steel pipe pile that is coated with a bituminous material and covered with a hard protective layer to facilitate transportation, storage and installation was developed as a new type of steel pipe pile for reducing negative skin friction. Laboratory tests, long-term field observation tests and field installation tests were conducted on the slip layer material of SLP-II to confirm that SLP-II has an excellent ability to reduce the negative skin friction, can be easily transported, stored and installed thanks to the hard protective layer, and is as drivable as ordinary steel pipe piles.
